CIDCO As Special Planning Authority

As per the notification dated 10-1-2013 under Section 40(1) of the MR & TP Act, 1966, covering an area measuring 560 sq. km comprising 270 villages in Raigad and Thane districts, CIDCO has been appointed as the Special Planning Authority to oversee the planning of NAINA.

Broader NAINA Regions

Broader regions include Uran, Panvel, Karjat, Khalapur, Pen & Thane, Panvel or Navi Panvel is the initial region to watch for.

The Growth Centre

The city will consist of small cities that will be hubs for agro-farming, education, trade, information technology, services, medical treatment, etc.

Criteria of Selection

The above villages have been selected based on their proximity to Navi Mumbai, proximity to the upcoming airport, availability of transport networks & development pressure.

Total Area Covered

23 IDP locations has a coverage of 3683.09 Ha. in total.

CIDCO as Special Planning Authority (SPA)

For the mentioned 23 villages, CIDCO has to prepare the Development Plan and Development Control Regulations, grant permissions, control, regulate developments and provide physical and social infrastructure.
